The EPFL Center for Intelligent Systems (CIS) brings together researchers striving to create new intelligent systems. These systems are embedded with elements of artificial intelligence and are emerging in response to the convergence of the virtual and physical worlds through the development of applications such as autonomous systems, smart devices or augmented reality.

In the seminar, supported by CERN Knowledge Transfer group, Jan Kerschgens, Executive Director of the CIS at EPFL, will provide an overview of EPFL CIS with the aim of exploring synergies with CERN. He will be sharing insights and lessons learned from building the centre.

CIS is also the host of EPFL’s ELLIS Unit (European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems) a structure of particular relevance to CERN and that enhances EPFL’s reach on AI and provides access to talent on a European level.
