Central heating on the Meyrin and Prevessin sites is usually turned off around mid- to late May each year.
As part of the long-term strategy for sustainability at CERN and the Organization’s energy saving policy, it has been decided to bring that date forward to 2 May this year. This anticipated stop will result in significant energy savings.
The optimal stop date is determined based on the weather forecast and, more importantly, on night-time temperatures.
