8th MaNEP Winter School
13–18 January 2019 in Saas-Fee, Switzerland
Symmetry and topology: new twists in condensed matter
The school aims at a broad introduction to contemporary topics in condensed matter physics. This year's special focus is on superconductivity, quantum criticality, and various aspects of topology in condensed matter. The longer basic lectures are dedicated to these three themes. Five shorter lectures will complement with further theoretical and experimental background about correlated and topological quantum matter. In MaNEP's tradition, a warm and interactive atmosphere between participants, lecturers and organizers is foreseen.
Speakers:
Jörg Schmalian (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology)
Achim Rosch (University of Cologne)
Dirk van der Marel (University of Geneva)
Manfred Sigrist (ETH Zürich)
Thierry Giamarchi (University of Geneva)
Steve Simon (University of Oxford)
Andrew Mackenzie (University of St Andrews)
Suchitra Sebastian (University of Cambridge)
Anna Tamai (University of Geneva)
The audience targeted is at the doctoral and post-doctoral level. A background in general condensed-matter physics should be sufficient. All courses are given in English.
We invite you to register online on the school web page. The deadline for registrations is October 31, 2018.
We very much look forward to seeing you in Saas-Fee.
