This year, the UN Human Rights Office (OHCHR) spotlights a call to human rights engagement by launching a global campaign called “Stand up for someone’s rights today”.
This campaign, which will run throughout 2017, is designed to amplify a call to people across the world to stand up for the global values of human rights, wherever they are. Through “Stand Up”, the OHCHR plans a series of events and initiatives throughout next year to engage a broad base of audiences. For more information, visit the website of the campaign here.
On 10 December, the OHCHR will celebrate International Human Rights Day and the launch of the “Stand Up” campaign. In central Geneva, the OHCHR has partnered with the Lux Festival through the presentation, from 1-12 December, of a “Tree of Human Rights” artistically illuminated in blue. On 10 December, Geneva’s “Jet d’eau” will also be illuminated in blue (weather permitting), while campaigning booths will be installed at the Palais des nations and in other locations.
You are all invited to join “Stand up for someone’s rights today”, in Geneva or wherever you are.
