Did you know 28 January is Data Protection Day?
This year three EIROforum Organisations - CERN, ESO and ESA - are teaming up for a fascinating, intriguing and eye-opening tour of data privacy issues that affect all of us.
The CERN speaker will take us on an entertaining journey demonstrating how he managed to evade the snooping virtual eyes and ears of popular social media platforms and web browsers over the course of one day.
An expert from ESO will expose security issues linked to data protection, and ESA will introduce us to CIMON, an AI robotic companion to astronauts on the ISS and some of the features and data privacy implications of such a high-tech companion! Furthermore, several innovative technologies, benefits and risks will be covered.
The online event will be interactive, with 10 minutes between each session for Q&As.
Information about Zoom
The video conferencing tool used will be Zoom, under a CERN license with specific provisions about security and privacy.
CERN’s contract with Zoom ensures that the data sent to this service is stored and processed in compliance with CERN data protection rules. In particular all the data related to CERN meetings is stored on EU servers, and this data can only be used for the exclusive purpose of providing the Zoom service to CERN users and its guests.

If you cannot use the Zoom desktop client, the Zoom web client and the phone dial-in connection allow for an interactive participation in the Zoom meeting, but come with a reduction of the available features.

Cette année, trois organisations de l’EIROforum – CERN, ESO et ESA – s’associent pour une tournée fascinante, captivante et révélatrice des enjeux relatifs au respect de la vie privée qui nous concernent tous.
Le conférencier du CERN nous entrainera dans un voyage divertissant montrant comment au cours d'une journée il a réussi à échapper aux yeux et aux oreilles virtuels espionneurs des plateformes de médias sociaux et des navigateurs Web populaires.
Un expert d'ESO exposera les problèmes de sécurité liés à la protection des données, et ESA nous présentera CIMON, un compagnon robotique d'IA pour les astronautes sur l'ISS, et certaines des fonctionnalités et implications de confidentialité des données d'un tel compagnon de haute technologie! En outre, plusieurs technologies innovantes, avantages et risques seront couverts.
L'événement en ligne sera interactif, avec 10 minutes de questions et réponses après chaque exposé.
Information sur Zoom
L'outil de visioconférence utilisé sera Zoom, sous une licence CERN avec des dispositions spécifiques sur la sécurité et la confidentialité.
Le contrat du CERN avec Zoom garantit que les données envoyées à ce service sont stockées et traitées conformément aux règles de protection des données du CERN. En particulier, toutes les données relatives aux réunions du CERN sont stockées sur des serveurs de l'UE, et ces données ne peuvent être utilisées que dans le but exclusif de fournir le service Zoom aux utilisateurs du CERN et à ses invités.

Si vous ne pouvez pas utiliser le client de bureau Zoom, le client Web Zoom et la connexion téléphonique permettent une participation interactive à la réunion Zoom, mais ont des fonctionnalités réduites.
