Symmetry properties of all-charm tetraquarks with CMS

The traditional quark model accounts for the existence of baryons, like protons and neutrons, as well as mesons, which consist of either three quarks or a pair of quark and antiquark. Only recently has substantial evidence started to accumulate for exotic states composed of four or five quarks or antiquarks. In this study, the CMS Collaboration investigates the recently discovered family of tetraquark candidates composed of four heavy charm quarks and antiquarks. The exact nature of their internal structure remains uncertain. They could either be loosely bound molecules composed of more familiar mesons or tightly bound states of true tetraquarks, with other potential configurations still being considered. Examining the symmetry properties of these all-charm tetraquarks helps in narrowing down the internal structure, which may involve specific configurations of the spin and angular momenta of its components.
